Training Update

I figured I'd give an update on how Frosted is doing. She is the first foal I've ever tried to hand train.

She pretty much has halter, leading and standing tied down packed. Currently we are working on loading in the trailer. (And that's with just 2 months of training) I am really proud of her and I am excited to watch her grow up.

And Thats a Wrap + New Titles + A Sad Loss

It was quiet walking into the barn this morning. I noticed Brady, my foreman, standing next to a stall looking depressed. Frowning I picked up the pace only stopping to scratch Knight on the head. The old boy is 48 and still going strong! I reached Brady's side ready to ask what was wrong when I noticed that Diablo wasn't begging for treats like he did every morning. My eyes clouded with tears as I opened his stall door and stepped inside. The beautiful black stallion was laying peacefully in the straw like he was asleep. I kneeled down and stroked his head for the last time.. devistated that he was gone. Later that morning we buried the grand horse under his favorite shade tree in the pasture. He was 35. )': Rest in peace, my sweet boy.

In happier news, all of our mares have foaled safely. Only one really stands out to me though. Frosted (GCh Song of the Dragons x ICh Make Mia Celestrial) She is very sweet and eager to please. I have decided to hand train her. In only one month Frosted is already good at being haltered and lead. She is making progress at standing tied as well. Frosted is smart, but very stubborn. (She must get it from her dam. lol)

The past month White Thorn Ranch welcomed home a new Grand champion. When the trailers pulled into the drive I could feel the excitement. Sadly I wasn't able to attend with training and breeding mares. Turbo's handler, Jacey, proudly led him towards me with the news. "He did it!" she exclaimed with a huge grin on her face. I grinned as well giving Turbo a pat and a kiss on the nose.

Also, Cajun and Dash are really close to becoming National champions.

Two of our 3 year old Quarter Horses are developing well. Flame and Reyn have both been showing off are strong they have become. Reyn was a bit of a surprise, though, as Flame's dam is pretty strong herself.

That's all for now,

Moving Up and New Additions

The past two days two of our Beginners earned their titles and have now moved up into the Intermediate classes. They are Bear (NCh Heza Royal Storm x ICh Off The Coast Of Panama) and Ruby (ACh I Don't Wanna Believe x Raining Hott)

Also, four of our trainees have completed saddle training and are ready to start showing.

In news of the culling, we are still working on it, but we have made some progress. (Some is better then none, right? lol)

It is quite hard to believe that next month is already Spring. I have some breeding pairs in mind but nothing is set in stone yet. Late last night Lola foaled a bay colt by BCh Disguised Envisioned. Its the first time I've ever used this stallion. I'm not too thrilled about Bret's temperment and lack of pattern so we'll have to see how he develops. Three other mares are currently showing signs and I am getting pretty antsy. (:

We've also got a few more additional horses the past month. (Will I ever learn? xD) First off is Lady who I bought to add fresh blood into my Paint herd. Phoenix came next. Hopefully soon he'll be ready to hit the show scene. And most recently Moon, Angel and Angelos from Winchester Performance (thank you Marshal!) Hopefully Angel and her colt will be the (re)start of my Appendix QH program.

Thats all for now,

Great News!

The trailers returned from the morning shows. I could tell something pretty exciting happened when Nicole, one of my head trainers, came running up with a grin on her face. She told me that Kia had picked up her last 2 points and earned her Grand championship title. Kia will be receiving a bunch of pampering from the staff and I. ;D

New Titles and Hard Decisions.

First, I'm going to start off with the hard decisions. Currently at White Thorn Ranch we have 106 horses with 10 foals due. o.o I decided it was time to cull the herd - which brings along a bunch of 'what if' questions. :/ I'm currently going through horses to decide who stays and who goes.

BUT, onto the good news. (: Recently quite a few of my youngsters have entered the showing world and I have been pretty happy with the results. The past few months the staff here at White Thorn Ranch have been welcoming in new titles.

We've had three new Beginner Champions, Classic HollywoodHott Shot Sage and Sheza Classy Storm. All three are sired by GCh Lotto Classic Sage. A huge shout out goes to Marshal over at Winchester Performance for allowing me to buy him. (:

Two Intermediate Champions, Here Comes Forever and Stuck Between the Storms both sired by NCh Grecian Fire.

And last, but certainly not least, two Advanced Champions. A Stormy Afternoon sired by NCh Grecian Fire and I Don't Wanna Believe sired by WCh Lotto Jackpot. Again, a huge thanks to Marshal for selling Hinder to me. (:

* All horses/links belong to Equine-Ranch and Snowwolfe Games.

Finally!

So I finally made White Thorn Ranch a blog. (: I'm still fixing it up and such and I hope to have everything figured out soon...

I will explain exciting news and such at the ranch in later posts.

Enjoy! :3
